Description

NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah is hiring a Specialist Interventional Radiologist to perform and interpret diagnostic imaging and deliver a broad range of minimally invasive therapies. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure patient safety and comfort, mentor trainees, and contribute to quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret imaging studies (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound) and provide clear, timely reports.
• Plan and perform IR procedures: angiography, embolization, biopsies, drainages, venoplasty/stent placement, thrombolysis.
• Monitor patients intra-/post-procedure; manage complications promptly; ensure informed consent and patient education.
• Collaborate with referring physicians; contribute in MDT meetings; develop individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and billing per regulatory and institutional policies.
• Mentor residents/fellows; stay current with advances in IR; support research and QI initiatives.

Procedural Scope

• Vascular IR: varicose vein laser ablation; angioplasty/stenting (aorto-iliac, femoropopliteal, tibial/pedal); catheter-directed thrombolysis (arterial/venous); IVC filters; venous compression/central venous obstruction management; AV fistula interventions; dialysis access creation/maintenance; central venoplasty.
• Neurointervention: cerebral angiography; mechanical thrombectomy; carotid/intracranial stenting; aneurysm coiling; AVM/AVF/CCF embolization; venous sinus thrombectomy/stenting; subdural hematoma embolization; IPSS; spinal vascular malformations; kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty; ablation for spinal metastases/osteoid osteoma.
• Hepatobiliary/Portal: emergency bleed embolization; TACE; tumor embolization/ablation (RFA/MWA/PEI); portal vein embolization; PTBD ± stenting; TIPS; shunt occlusions (BRTO/PARTO/CARTO); Budd–Chiari recanalization/DIPS; mesenteric ischemia interventions; pancreatic collection drainage.
• Thoracic: bronchial artery embolization for hemoptysis; pleural aspiration/drainage/pleurodesis; tracheal stenting; chylothorax embolization.
• Uro/Nephro: renal tumor/AML embolization; PCN and antegrade ureteric stenting; PAE for BPH; varicocele embolization; transjugular renal biopsy; embolization of post-procedure hematuria; chylous collections; dialysis-related interventions.
• Gynecologic: PPH embolization; UFE; prophylactic iliac balloons in high-risk PPH; fallopian tube recanalization; pelvic congestion embolization.
• Aortic/Vascular: endovascular stent-grafting for thoracic/abdominal aortic aneurysms; endoleak embolization.
• Oncology/Palliative: image-guided biopsies/FNAC; chemoport insertion; palliative nerve blocks; embolization of post-op/tumoral bleeds.

Qualifications

• Medical degree with completed residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
• Board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology.
• Fellowship/DM/CCT in Interventional Radiology (from an accredited program) with minimum 3 years residency training.
• Current medical license and eligibility for hospital medical staff privileges.
• Proven expertise in imaging interpretation and IR procedures; excellent communication and teamwork skills.
