Want to put your clinical social work skills to work helping Veterans overcome addiction? The VA Western Colorado Health Care System is hiring a Senior Social Worker to join our Substance Use Disorder Recovery team in Grand Junction. In this role, you'll deliver specialized, evidence-based treatment to Veterans battling substance use disorders alongside complex co-occurring conditions like PTSD and other mental health challenges. You'll work independently while collaborating with a dedicated recovery team, and you'll have the opportunity to supervise and mentor social work trainees. The position also qualifies for up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced clinical social workers ready to serve those who served our country.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for SUD, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Contingency Management
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments and developing individualized treatment plans with the recovery team
- Using crisis intervention techniques and implementing suicide prevention protocols for Veterans in acute distress
- Providing clinical supervision and oversight for social work trainees working toward licensure
- Coordinating care through referrals to VA services, community resources, and other government agencies while serving as a community and family liaison
- Developing and maintaining education programs for Veterans, families, community agencies, students, and staff
What you'll need to have:
- Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program
- State licensure or certification at the advanced practice level, including an advanced generalist or clinical examination
- At least two years of post-advanced practice clinical licensure experience, with one year at the GS-11 equivalent level
- Ability to provide supervision for licensure candidates
- U.S. citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Salary Range
$98,138 - $127,584 per year
GS-12 pay scale
