Description

NMC Royal Medical Centre in Shahama is seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist in Gastroenterology to deliver comprehensive, high-quality clinical care. This role involves performing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures, managing clinical risks, and upholding the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and professional ethics.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical services to patients with GI diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Perform a wide range of GI procedures, including upper and lower endoscopies, liver biopsies, and ERCP.
• Provide expert consultation services for other inpatient departments.
• Manage after-hours on-call coverage for gastrointestinal emergencies.
• Supervise and educate endoscopy staff, nurses, and technicians.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and ensure compliance with clinical governance standards.
• Actively participate in quality assurance activities, including peer reviews, audits, and morbidity/mortality conferences.
• Comply strictly with all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI) policies.

Qualifications

• Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/program (fellowship/diploma) recognized by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Specialist.
• At least 1 year of Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Specialty certification recognized by the UAE healthcare authority (e.g., Membership from Royal College, Arab Board Certification, MS, DM).
• Active and valid life support certification (e.g., BLS, ACLS).
• Eligibility for registration with the relevant healthcare authority in Abu Dhabi.
