NMC Specialty Hospital, Dubai is seeking a Department Head – Nephrology & Dialysis to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for the service. The role partners with hospital leadership to ensure robust clinical governance, audit, and risk management; mentors physicians; and drives high‑quality, evidence‑based, and cost‑effective kidney and dialysis care aligned with organizational objectives and JCI standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective clinical leadership, support, and management guidance to all departmental physicians.
• Ensure smooth daily operations of the department, including physician scheduling and leave management.
• Ensure correct privileging for every physician (DOCP documentation, timely renewals) and maintain readiness for review.
• Monitor and manage clinical staff performance to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care: review Press Ganey feedback, engage daily with clinicians, and lead Quality & Patient Safety initiatives; mentor junior physicians.
• Provide clinical direction to the team and hospital leadership; actively participate in relevant hospital committees.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work; ensure adherence to licensing regulations; conduct regular audits; ensure JCI compliance and accurate clinical records.
• Conduct performance appraisals and probation reviews; resolve clinical complaints through appropriate channels.
• Support continuous competency development: promote CME, in‑house training, coaching, and on‑the‑job learning.
• Review candidate applications and participate in interviews for new physicians.
• Clearly communicate expectations; clarify roles and responsibilities; align team with department and organizational strategy and goals.
• Foster motivation and engagement by building trust, encouraging innovation, and recognizing achievements; model NMC values and desired behaviors.
• Embrace diversity and collaborative relationships; demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and a positive, solutions‑focused attitude.
• Set clear, measurable objectives and action plans; exhibit self‑discipline and reliability to achieve outcomes.
• Comply with OSHMS: follow safe work procedures, use PPE, know emergency/evacuation protocols, assist in risk assessments, report hazards/incidents/near misses, reduce/reuse/recycle waste, and attend OSH trainings, audits, and drills.
• Adhere to Infection Prevention & Control policies: strict hand hygiene (5 moments), bare‑below‑the‑elbows, and environmental care.

Qualifications

• Qualified and licensed Medical Practitioner; registered with the relevant UAE regulatory body.
• Post‑graduate qualification is an advantage.
• Leadership competencies: Drive Performance & Results (Proficient); Coaching & Mentoring (Developing).
