Consultant – General Surgeon (Hospital-Based, Dubai)

📋 Full Job Description:

🔍 Position Overview:

• Consultant-level, full-time position in the General Surgery Department
• Involves a broad range of surgical treatments, from elective procedures to emergency operations

🩺 Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and surgically treat conditions involving the abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, hernias, and soft tissues
• Perform surgical procedures including:
  • Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, bowel resection, hernia repairs (open and laparoscopic), wound management
• Oversee patient pre-operative and post-operative care
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, radiologists, oncologists, and critical care teams
• Participate in surgical audits, clinical protocol development, and morbidity/mortality reviews
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, potential risks, and expected outcomes
• Maintain thorough and compliant medical documentation as per Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards

🎓 Requirements:

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited university
• Board certification in General Surgery (American Board, Canadian, UK CCT, FRCS, or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years of post-certification work experience
• Must be Western-trained (UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe)
• Eligible for Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licensing
• Proficient in open and laparoscopic general surgery techniques
• Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and decision-making skills
