Position Summary

The Assistant Nurse – Surgical OPD Clinic at American Hospital Dubai provides patient-centered nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves assisting with patient assessments, supporting activities of daily living, monitoring health status, and promoting a safe and effective care environment. The Assistant Nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure quality care, maintains patient confidentiality, and participates in professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with assessing, intervening, and evaluating patient health and functional status under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and mobility, to promote independence.
• Monitor and report changes in patient health, vital signs, pain levels, and intake/output to the Registered Nurse.
• Assist with routine procedures, such as blood draws, and remove peripheral IV lines as instructed.
• Provide relevant healthcare information and support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the unit and proper disposal of contaminated waste.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote a culture of safety and quality care.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Nursing (minimum 18-month course duration).
• Current and valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Competency in monitoring and documenting patient health status and performing routine procedures.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to legal and ethical standards.
