Staff Nurse – Breast Care Clinic

Description

Provides direct patient care and coordinates activities using the scientific process of nursing. Care is provided to adults and geriatric patients, with a focus on comprehensive breast health. Responsibilities include assisting in Ultrasound-Guided Core Biopsies, Lymph Node Biopsies, Breast Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), Seed Placement procedures, Stereotactic Biopsies, and Wire Localization procedures, contributing to both diagnostic and interventional care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver age-specific, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process.
• Conduct assessments with focus on patient needs, both physical and psychological.
• Engage patients, families, and healthcare providers in care planning when appropriate.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated clinical care.
• Manage priorities by developing and revising plans of care as necessary.
• Recognize early cues to anticipate and respond to patient care problems.
• Document nursing care and procedures in accordance with hospital standards.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and safe environment in the clinic.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) standards, infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, unit goals, and continuing education programs.
• Safely administer and document handling of narcotics/controlled drugs.
• Actively participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.
• Mentor and collaborate with colleagues to raise care standards.

Unit-specific Responsibilities:

• Assist during Ultrasound-Guided Core Biopsy and Lymph Node Biopsy procedures.
• Offer support during Stereotactic Biopsy procedures.
• Assist in Breast Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA).
• Perform Seed Placement procedures as directed.
• Support Wire Localization procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (minimum 3-year full-time course) OR 2-year Nursing degree with registration from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia.
• For UAE nationals: Graduation from UAE or non-UAE universities exempts from clinical training requirements (birth certificate and mother’s family book required).
• Non-UAE nationals graduating from UAE universities must complete 6 months of clinical training in an APS health facility (except RN or Assistant Nurse titles).
• Must hold a valid nursing license/registration in home country or last country of employment.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years recent post-graduate experience in a Breast Care setting.
• Skilled in patient assessment, planning, and prioritization of care.
• Knowledge in providing care appropriate to age and development needs.
