Description
The Fredericksburg Healthcare Center is looking for a board-certified Rheumatologist to join the Medicine Section. You'll provide comprehensive consultative care for Veterans with rheumatologic conditions, working collaboratively with other sections within the facility. This role combines hands-on clinical work with administrative responsibilities, and may include teaching medical residents, students, and trainees. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Interview and examine patients, select appropriate diagnostic testing, and interpret results to coordinate patient care
- Perform arthrocentesis with therapeutic injections and utilize musculoskeletal ultrasound as indicated
- Provide consultative input and collaborate with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation
- Supervise midlevel providers, medical students, residents, and fellows within the Rheumatology section when applicable
- Participate in quality assurance programs, chart reviews, and monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care
- Attend monthly staff meetings, participate in Medical Staff committee assignments, and complete medical records per bylaws
- Contribute to educational programs for section personnel and VA-funded graduate medical education trainees
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an approved medical school
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
- Completed residency and rheumatology fellowship training approved by ACGME or AOA with board certification
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS desirable
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills with advanced clinical experience
Job Details
Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Probationary Period: 2-year probationary period required
Salary Range
$220,000 - $300,000 per year
Base Pay + Market Pay determined through formal pay-setting process
