Description

The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, is looking for a Psychiatrist to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary mental health team. You'll provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment, including care for co-occurring substance use disorders. This role involves psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, integrative mental health modalities, crisis intervention, and suicide risk assessments. The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), offering up to $200,000 in student loan repayment, and a recruitment/sign-on bonus may be available for highly qualified candidates. Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment including diagnostic assessments, medication management, and crisis intervention
  • Conducting suicide risk assessments and delivering therapeutic interventions for patients with psychiatric disorders
  • Providing psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and integrative mental health treatment modalities
  • Participating in team meetings, treatment planning conferences, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members
  • Providing chart-based consultations and E-consults as needed
  • Offering education sessions to team members and providing training, supervision, and backup for care management
  • Participating in the psychiatric residency program and medical student supervision in association with ETSU/Quillen Medical School
  • Documenting all patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in accordance with VA policy
  • Engaging in collaborative agreements with nurse practitioners and/or providing clinical supervision to physician assistants as needed

What you'll need to have:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school
  • Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
  • Completed psychiatry residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board certification eligibility
  • U.S. citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens are unavailable)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Skills in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and integrative mental health modalities

Job Details

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM with scheduled rotational call/weekends

Salary Range (Base Pay + Market Pay)

$262,480 - $300,000 per year
