Description
The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System is hiring a Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health Service at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. You'll be part of an academic medical facility with active teaching and research programs, working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing compassionate care for Veterans. This role involves consultation psychiatry for inpatient medical and surgical services, as well as integration with Primary Care teams. Training in addiction psychiatry is preferred but not required.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Serve as a psychiatry consultant to inpatient acute medical and surgical services
- Provide consulting psychiatry services within the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) model
- Participate in supervision and teaching activities supporting the psychiatric residency program
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members in treatment planning conferences and team meetings
- Perform on-call duties and other directly related clinical responsibilities as assigned
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an approved medical school
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
- Completed psychiatry residency training approved by ACGME or AOA with board certification eligibility
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Preferred: Training in addiction psychiatry

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Salary Range
$230,000 - $260,000 per year
Base Pay + Market Pay determined through formal pay-setting process
