Description
The Fayetteville VA Coastal Healthcare System is looking for a board-certified Psychiatrist to provide outpatient mental health care to Veterans. This is a general psychiatry role where you'll conduct initial evaluations, manage medications, and collaborate with other specialists to deliver comprehensive treatment. The position is primarily outpatient, Monday through Friday, with rotational on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and federal holidays. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Perform initial psychiatric evaluations to establish diagnoses, conduct safety assessments, and develop treatment plans including medication management.
- Order and interpret pertinent laboratory tests, procedures like EKGs, and imaging studies.
- Prescribe medications according to the established formulary and in compliance with federal, state, and clinical guidelines.
- Obtain consultations from specialists and communicate pertinent medical information to other providers, institutions, and patients.
- Document all diagnostic and treatment information in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) on the day of the visit.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to other services at the VAMC and associated community clinics as required.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in written and spoken English.
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school.
- A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training in Psychiatry, approved by the ACGME or AOA.
- Required: Must be board certified.
- Must maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Job Details
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Rotational on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and federal holidays is required.
Annual Salary Range
$260,000 - $315,000
Base Pay + Market Pay (VM-15 Pay Scale)
