The Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking a Medical Director for the Primary Care Program at the Binghamton Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). This is a dual clinical and administrative role, with 75% of your time dedicated to patient care and 25% to leadership responsibilities. You'll provide administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership to ensure the achievement of VHA clinical and education goals. The ideal candidate is a board-certified physician with advanced clinical experience, strong administrative and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to interdisciplinary care. You must meet the requirements for a faculty appointment at Upstate Medical University. This position offers eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program with up to $200,000 in student loan repayment.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Providing administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership for primary care services at the Binghamton CBOC.
- Delivering direct patient care as part of the clinical component (75% of the role).
- Coordinating a broad continuum of primary care programs and ensuring achievement of VHA clinical and education goals.
- Demonstrating commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery.
- Providing clinical interface with other disciplines represented at the Binghamton CBOC and key stakeholders.
- Reporting to the Associate Chief of Staff for Primary Care ICC at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship is required (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board certification.
- Board certification required; must meet requirements for faculty appointment at Upstate Medical University.
- Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills with management experience.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience:
- Primary Care clinical administration experience.
- Documented ability to coordinate a broad continuum of programs.
- Strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
Job Details
Location: Binghamton, New York
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (or as determined by service needs)
Supervisory Status: Yes
Salary Range:
$260,000 - $280,000 per year
