Description

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a Staff Neurologist to join their team. In this role, you'll diagnose and manage a wide range of neurological disorders while also teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians. You'll have the chance to work in both outpatient and inpatient settings, perform specialized procedures, and collaborate with a supportive team dedicated to Veteran care. Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Providing outpatient and inpatient neurological consultations with timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Interviewing and examining patients, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, and interpreting results to coordinate care.
  • Performing neurologic procedures such as NCS/EMG, EEG interpretation, lumbar punctures, and Botox administration based on your training and privileges.
  • Taking calls from the Emergency Department and sharing after-hours call responsibilities with other section physicians.
  • Supervising and teaching neurology residents, fellows, and medical students during their rotations.
  • Providing clinical supervision and support to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in the Neurology clinic.
  • Following facility stroke protocol and participating in quality assurance activities to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
  • Performing administrative functions and other duties as assigned by the Chief of Service.

What you'll need to have:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board eligibility.
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Eligibility for academic appointment to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience providing neurological care to both outpatients and inpatients.
  • Experience with Botox injections and management of vagal nerve stimulators.
  • Fellowship training or experience in Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, Vascular Neurology, Headache, Neuromuscular Disorders, or Neuro-Hospitalist.

Job Details

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Compressed tours may be offered.

Salary Range:

$260,000 - $320,000 per year
