Description

The VA South Texas Health Care System is looking for a Neurologist with epilepsy expertise to join the team at the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio. You'll provide direct patient care in outpatient specialty clinics and inpatient settings, diagnosing and treating disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. This role comes with some serious perks: a potential recruitment or relocation incentive and eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program, which can provide up to $200,000 in student loan repayment. Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Providing direct patient care in outpatient specialty clinics and inpatient settings.
  • Diagnosing and treating disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system.
  • Ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests to provide proper care to Veterans.
  • Sharing on-call coverage and participating in inpatient ward shifts on a rotating basis.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive neurological care.

What you'll need to have:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board eligibility.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:

  • Board certified in Neurology, with or without subspecialty. Board certified or board eligible epileptologist.
  • At least 3 years out of residency or fellowship.
  • At least 3 years of recent experience with Graduate Medical Education (GME).
  • At least 3 years of non-academic supervisory and administrative experience.
  • 1-2 years of epilepsy fellowship training in an ACGME accredited program.

Job Details

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Includes rotating on-call and inpatient ward shifts.

Salary Range:

$270,000 - $315,000 per year
