Description
The Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System is seeking a Psychiatrist with certification in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine to join their multidisciplinary Pain Management Clinic Team in Wilmington. This is a high-impact role where you'll provide specialized care to Veterans struggling with complex chronic pain and opioid use disorder. You'll work primarily in an outpatient setting, conducting evaluations, managing medications, and collaborating with a team dedicated to improving patient outcomes. The position offers a highly competitive salary, a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, and eligibility for up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Perform initial psychiatric evaluations to establish diagnoses and develop comprehensive treatment plans, including medication management.
- Serve as the treatment and consulting psychiatrist/prescriber on the Pain Management Clinic Team.
- Order pertinent laboratory and radiology tests and manage patient disposition.
- Obtain consultations from specialists and communicate effectively with other healthcare providers.
- Document all diagnostic and treatment information in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) on the day of the visit.
- Provide psychiatric consultation to other services at the VAMC and associated community clinics as needed.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in written and spoken English.
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school.
- A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training approved by the ACGME or AOA.
- Required: Certification in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.
- Required: Experience in treating Opioid Use Disorders.
- Preferred: ABPN Addiction Board Certification.

Annual Salary Range
$260,000 - $315,000
Base Pay + Market Pay (VM-15 Pay Scale)
