Description

The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee is actively recruiting two full-time Urologists to join our growing Surgical Service. You’ll deliver comprehensive urologic care to Veterans — from prostate biopsies and cystoscopies to complex open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries — while taking equitable call with your partners. This is a true general urology practice that includes female urology, spinal cord injury patients, oncology, stone disease, and reconstructive cases. Enjoy a Monday-to-Friday schedule with rotational call, no private practice hassles, and one of the strongest federal compensation packages available, including recruitment bonus potential and EDRP up to $200k.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Provide full-spectrum operative and non-operative urologic care for male and female Veterans, including spinal cord injury patients, covering the entire genitourinary tract.
  • Perform clinic-based procedures (prostate biopsies, cystoscopies, vasectomies, circumcisions, etc.) and major surgeries including robotic/laparoscopic procedures, open renal surgery, urinary diversions, penile prosthesis/AUS, PCNL, ESWL, and endourology.
  • Take fair-share call (weeknights, weekends, holidays) alongside other full-time urologists.
  • Serve as the attending for all perioperative care of your patients and collaborate closely with primary care, oncology, SCI, and other services for seamless Veteran care.
  • Participate in resident teaching (if desired), quality improvement, and tumor board — fellowship training is welcomed but not required.

What you'll need to have:

  • U.S. citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available) and proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.
  • Completion of ACGME or AOA accredited Urology residency; board certified or board eligible in Urology (fellowship training preferred but not required).
  • Ability to take call and perform the full range of urologic procedures described.
