Ready to make a real difference in the lives of Veterans struggling with addiction? The VA Western Colorado Health Care System is looking for a Staff Psychologist to join our Substance Use Disorder Recovery team in Grand Junction. You'll provide specialized, evidence-based mental health treatment to Veterans dealing with substance use disorders alongside complex co-occurring conditions like PTSD. This role offers the chance to work with a dedicated team, use your clinical expertise, and help those who've served our country find their path to recovery. Plus, you may qualify for up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for SUD, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Contingency Management
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the recovery team
- Using crisis intervention techniques and implementing suicide prevention protocols when Veterans are in acute distress
- Coordinating care by making referrals to VA services, community resources, and other government agencies
- Mentoring colleagues and providing education to Veterans, families, students, and staff about psychology interventions
What you'll need to have:
- Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program (clinical, counseling, or school psychology)
- Completed APA or CPA accredited internship in professional psychology
- Full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level (unlicensed candidates may be considered for temporary appointment)
- U.S. citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English
- For GS-13: At least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, with one year at the GS-12 equivalent level

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Salary Range
$92,439 - $171,279 per year
GS-11 to GS-13 pay scale
