Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Psychologist to join the Behavioral Health Department at the Amarillo VA Health Care System. In this role, you'll serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping Veterans recover from PTSD. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with combat veterans, providing culturally sensitive care that addresses complex trauma, TBI, and co-occurring disorders.

You will have the autonomy to develop person-centered treatment plans while utilizing evidence-based practices. Beyond the clinical rewards of serving our nation's heroes, this position offers incredible financial incentives, including eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) which can provide up to $200,000 in student loan reimbursement.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Provide specialized psychological services for PTSD, including intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and psychotherapy.
  • Lead a full range of therapeutic interventions such as individual, group, and couples therapy using evidence-based practices.
  • Develop person-centered treatment plans that respect military culture and address co-occurring conditions like depression or substance use.
  • Use valid measurement instruments to monitor treatment progress and guide clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient service delivery and proper transitioning of patients.

What you'll need to have:

  • A Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA, CPA, or PCSAS accredited graduate program.
  • Completion of an accredited professional psychology internship training program.
  • A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered if no qualified citizens apply).
  • Preferred: Two years
