The Martinsburg VA Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Staff Anesthesiologist to join their team in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. You'll provide comprehensive perioperative care, from preoperative assessments through post-anesthesia management, serving over 70,000 veterans across West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. This role covers the full scope of anesthesia practice: general, regional, neuraxial, MAC, pain management, and critical care services. You'll also supervise CRNAs, residents, and students. Here's what you'll be doing:

• Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient evaluations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and obtain informed consent
• Provide general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and sedation for surgical and procedural cases
• Manage airways including intubation and advanced airway devices; administer IV, inhalational, and adjunct anesthetic agents
• Perform invasive monitoring procedures including arterial lines, central venous access, and pulmonary artery catheters
• Direct and supervise Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), anesthesia residents, and students
• Provide post-anesthesia care in PACU and ICU settings, managing postoperative pain through epidurals, nerve blocks, PCA, and multimodal analgesia
• Lead resuscitative efforts and provide ACLS during perioperative emergencies; manage ventilatory and hemodynamic support for critically ill patients
• Deliver anesthesia services outside the OR in procedural suites including endoscopy, interventional radiology, and cardiac cath lab

What you'll need to have:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved institution
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory
• Completed residency training in Anesthesiology approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent
• Board Certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (required)
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination and background investigation
