The VA Western Colorado Health Care System is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Substance Use Disorder Recovery team in Grand Junction. You'll provide specialized, evidence-based mental health treatment to Veterans struggling with addiction and complex co-occurring conditions like PTSD. This role gives you the independence to use your advanced clinical skills while working alongside a committed recovery team. You'll also have the chance to mentor the next generation of social workers by providing clinical supervision to trainees. Plus, you may qualify for up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program and a relocation incentive to help with your move.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Delivering individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for SUD, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Contingency Management
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments and creating individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the recovery team
- Implementing crisis intervention techniques and suicide prevention protocols for Veterans experiencing acute distress
- Providing clinical supervision and oversight for social work trainees progressing toward licensure or certification
- Coordinating care through referrals to VA services, community resources, and government agencies while acting as a community and family liaison
- Developing and maintaining education programs for Veterans, families, community agencies, students, and staff
What you'll need to have:
- Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program
- State licensure or certification at the advanced practice level, including an advanced generalist or clinical examination
- At least two years of post-advanced practice clinical licensure experience, with one year at the GS-11 equivalent level
- Ability to provide supervision for licensure candidates
- Current status as a VA employee nationwide or other federal employee
- U.S. citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Salary Range
$98,138 - $127,584 per year
GS-12 pay scale
