We are looking for a dedicated leader to join the Veterans Health Administration as the Section Chief of Orthopedics. In this role, you'll function as a key member of our interdisciplinary team at the White River Junction Healthcare System. This is a position that balances high-level leadership with hands-on clinical work, giving you the independence to direct patient care and make critical decisions for the veteran population in Vermont.
You will provide guidance to the Orthopedics service staff while personally handling clinical and surgical duties. Beyond the operating room, you will play a vital role in mentoring residents and shaping the future of the department through administrative oversight. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Orthopedics service staff to ensure the best healthcare outcomes for local veterans.
- Perform surgical procedures and manage both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic services.
- Supervise residents according to VA guidelines and participate in the academic affiliation by teaching medical students.
- Manage administrative tasks such as staffing clinics, attending staff meetings, and ensuring timely medical record entry.
- Support the Chief of Surgical Service in meeting performance measures and completing mandatory educational trainings.
What you'll need to have:
- A Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
- A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any US State or territory.
- Completion of an accredited residency training program in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery (Fellowship in Sports or Upper Extremity is preferred).
- US Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens are not available).

Location: White River Junction, VT
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: $350,000 - $400,000 per year
