The Fayetteville NC VA Medical Center is looking for an experienced physician to join us as the Section Chief for Gastroenterology. In this dual administrative and clinical role, you will lead the GI section within the Medicine Service, ensuring the highest standards of care for our veterans. You will be responsible for the operational efficiency of the department, compliance with accrediting bodies, and the mentorship of your team.

Alongside your leadership duties, you will maintain an active clinical practice. This involves providing expert consultation and treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing GI procedures, and managing critical care cases. Here's what you'll be doing:

• Manage the daily operations of the GI Section, including scheduling, resource allocation, and conducting monthly meetings.
• Provide expert diagnosis, consultation, and treatment for GI patients in clinics, wards, and the emergency department.
• Perform necessary GI procedures and order diagnostic studies.
• Ensure the department meets or exceeds compliance standards set by the Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with other service chiefs and mentor staff to improve patient outcomes and service quality.

What you'll need to have:

• United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed if no qualified citizens are available).
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or territory.
• Board Certification in Gastroenterology.
• Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship training program.
• Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills are highly preferred.
