Description
The VA Eastern Oklahoma Health Care System in Tulsa is seeking a full-time Pulmonary Disease Physician to join their team. This is a comprehensive pulmonary and critical care role where you'll perform a wide range of procedures, from bronchoscopy and EBUS to ventilator management and sleep medicine. You'll diagnose and treat Veterans with life-threatening respiratory disorders while also managing sleep-related conditions. This position comes with a sign-on bonus, up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the EDRP program, and outstanding federal benefits. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Performing bronchoscopy procedures including fiberoptic, rigid, and computer-assisted image-guided navigation with EBUS and transbronchial lung biopsy
- Managing ventilators for critically ill patients, including complicated ventilator management and all modes of mechanical ventilation
- Placing and managing central venous lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes
- Performing thoracentesis, tracheal intubation, and indwelling tunneled pleural catheter placement and removal
- Interpreting pulmonary function tests, spirometry, and cardiorespiratory exercise testing
- Diagnosing and treating sleep disorders, including supervising and interpreting polysomnography tests and managing CPAP therapy
- Providing critical care for patients with life-threatening disorders
- Administering moderate sedation and managing sedation/hypnotic/paralytic/reversal and resuscitation medications
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an approved school
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or territory
- Completed residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary Disease approved by ACGME or AOA
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pulmonary Disease
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Salary Range
$280,000 - $400,000 per year
Final salary determined by education and length of practice
