Description
The Hudson Valley Health Care System is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide behavioral health services across multiple settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, primary care, the emergency department, and specialty programs like Substance Abuse and PTSD treatment. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, including mastery of DSM diagnostic criteria, treatment interventions, and psychopharmacology. You'll work with complex patients, provide education to families, and consult with professional staff on treatment plans. The position offers flexibility with tele-mental health options to serve CBOCs throughout the region. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Providing psychiatric assessments and diagnosing mental disorders for complex patients via face-to-face and tele-mental health services
- Developing, implementing, and documenting treatment plans for an assigned caseload of patients
- Providing consultation to professional staff on clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment approaches
- Educating patients, family members, and significant others about diagnoses and treatment options
- Assisting in implementing clinical programs and ensuring compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards
- Coordinating with other health care programs to effectively deliver services across the facility
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and mental health components of the Medical Center Strategic Plan
- Attending staff meetings, medical staff committees, and complying with peer review procedures
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
- Completed residency training in Psychiatry approved by ACGME or AOA
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
- Mastery of DSM diagnostic criteria, treatment interventions, and medication effects/side effects
- Proficiency in written and spoken English

Locations: Montrose, NY and New City, NY (1 vacancy)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Telework: Ad-Hoc eligible
Salary Range:
$250,000 - $290,000 per year
Education and length of practice considered through formal pay-setting process
