Here's what you'll be doing:

• Providing history, physical examinations, diagnoses, and initiating medical treatment for veteran patients
• Conducting follow-up office visits for existing medical problems, including diagnostic tests and medication adjustments
• Referring patients to appropriate specialists, healthcare facilities, and coordinating home health services
• Initiating and facilitating treatment and transfers in emergency situations
• Documenting assessments and care plans using the VA's computerized medical record system
• Acting as a consultant in clinical practice and potentially supervising physician assistants
• Serving as backup Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) on a rotating basis
• Collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, PAs, RNs, and allied health professionals as part of the interdisciplinary team

What you'll need to have:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
• Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board certification eligibility
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Primary Care
• BLS and ACLS certification (must maintain throughout employment)
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Familiarity with personal computers and adequate keyboard skills for electronic medical record documentation
