Description
The VA is looking for a highly qualified physician to lead the Inpatient Mental Health Program at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center. In this role, you'll oversee a multidisciplinary team delivering complex care to veterans, while maintaining a strong clinical presence by providing direct patient care. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Lead and manage the Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit and its daily operations.
- Supervise a team of diverse mental health professionals and support staff.
- Develop and implement program goals, clinical procedures, and strategic plans.
- Provide direct psychiatric care and psychopharmacologic treatments to VA patients at least 70% of the time.
- Ensure high-quality post-discharge continuity of care and community coordination.
What you'll need to have:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school and active/unrestricted U.S. medical license.
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-approved residency program in psychiatry.
- U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred experience in inpatient mental health, trauma, addiction treatment, suicide risk evaluation, and team supervision.
