Description
The Cardiology Section at VA Boston Healthcare System is looking for a dedicated Heart Failure Cardiologist to join the team. This role is a unique collaboration with the Cardiovascular Medicine Division of Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). You'll be stepping into a position that focuses heavily on advanced heart failure, including the new Mechanical Support and Heart Transplant Program.
This isn't just a clinical role; it's an opportunity to work within a major tertiary referral center while maintaining strong academic ties. We offer an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) commensurate with your experience, ranging from Instructor to Associate Professor. If you have a passion for clinical excellence, teaching the next generation of medical professionals, and contributing to research in health equity or quality of care, we want to hear from you.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Handling inpatient cardiology duties along with advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplant services at both VABHS and BWH.
- Managing outpatient ambulatory continuity care clinics to ensure consistent patient support.
- Teaching and mentoring residents, Cardiovascular Disease Fellows, and subspecialty Fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- Covering service time on the VA general cardiology ward and participating in overnight and weekend on-call rotations.
- Contributing to the academic field through research and publication, specifically in clinical cardiology or health equity.
What you'll need to have:
- United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are not available).
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any US State or territory.
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- Specific training and experience within a high-volume mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant center.
- A track record of research and publication in clinical cardiology is highly preferred for the academic appointment.
