Description
The Veterans Health Administration (VISN 06) is seeking a part-time Orthopedic Surgeon to join the team in Charlotte, North Carolina. You'll work within the Orthopedic Section under the overall management of the Section Chief, providing comprehensive surgical and clinical services to Veterans. This position blends clinical practice with administrative responsibilities, teaching, and potential research involvement. The VA offers exceptional flexibility: there's no employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Providing compassionate, effective patient care for health promotion, illness prevention, disease treatment, and end-of-life care
- Performing orthopedic surgical procedures, with preference for total joint replacement and revision surgery expertise
- Managing clinical duties including open encounter and consult maintenance, CPRS documentation, and clinic management
- Attending staff meetings, preparing briefs related to adverse patient outcomes, and communicating effectively up and down the chain of command
- Participating in clinic productivity monitoring, quality and patient safety oversight, and process improvement initiatives
- Teaching and mentoring trainees, coordinating educational activities, and ensuring compliance with supervision requirements
- Contributing to research and development activities as applicable
What you'll need to have:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school
- Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board certification eligibility
- Board Certification required; fellowship training in Total Joint Replacement and Revisions preferred
- U.S. citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens are unavailable)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
Job Details
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week (schedule determined by Chief of Orthopedics)
Travel: 25% or less may be required
Salary Range (Base Pay + Market Pay)
$393,000 - $400,000 per year
