Employment Information

Physician (Gastroenterology)

Miami VA Healthcare System, Miami, FL

Description

The Miami VA Health System is currently recruiting a Gastroenterologist to join our Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. We are looking for someone with interests in advanced endoscopy, general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or GI motility. As a Tier 1b academic referral center, we work closely with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. This means you get to work in a collaborative environment that combines high-quality clinical care with exceptional research opportunities and teaching responsibilities.

In this role, you will handle a mix of clinical duties and education. You will help supervise house staff, including GI fellows, residents, and medical students. We are set up with excellent facilities and equipment to support your work. If you are an advanced endoscopy specialist, we require proficiency in EUS and ERCP. While third-space endoscopy is a plus, it is not mandatory. This is a great chance to practice academic medicine in South Florida while enjoying a healthy work-life balance.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Work in outpatient clinics to treat various gastroenterological and liver-related conditions.
  • Supervise and educate GI fellows, residents, and medical students in a clinical setting.
  • Perform history and physical exams on all assigned patients.
  • Diagnose and treat patients expertly while performing necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and ensure the medical staff stays informed of patient changes.

What you'll need to have:

  • United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are not available).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or territory.
  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology.
  • Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship training program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
