Description
The Fayetteville NC VA Medical Center is currently seeking a skilled Physician to serve as the Section Chief for our Hospitalist Section. This is a pivotal leadership role within the Medicine Service where you will split your time between administrative leadership and clinical practice. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of services, overseeing compliance with accrediting bodies, and managing the day-to-day operations of the section.
In this position, you will spend approximately 80% of your time providing expert clinical care to veterans in inpatient, surgical, and critical care settings. The remaining 20% is dedicated to administrative duties, including resource allocation and team management. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Provide leadership as Section Chief by managing schedules, holding monthly meetings, and directing quality improvement projects.
- Deliver expert clinical care and consultation to patients in emergency, inpatient, surgical, and critical care units (approx. 80% of duties).
- Ensure compliance with standards from the Joint Commission and other accrediting bodies.
- Coordinate treatment plans effectively with inpatient and outpatient providers.
- Mentor team members and foster professional relationships with patients, families, and staff.
What you'll need to have:
- United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed if no qualified citizens are available).
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or territory.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine.
- Completion of an accredited residency training program.
- Three to five years of leadership or VA experience is preferred.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Salary: $260,000 - $335,000 per year
