Description
We are seeking a dedicated Hematologist / Oncologist to join the Medicine Service within the Veterans Health Administration. While this position is administratively connected to the Fayetteville network, the vacancy is located in Wilmington, North Carolina. In this role, you will provide expert consultation and treatment to veterans in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
You will have the opportunity to practice state-of-the-art medicine without the administrative burden of insurance billing. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions using pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies.
- Manage patients in outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinics and provide consultation services for inpatient wards and the emergency department.
- Perform necessary procedures and order diagnostic studies to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families regarding conditions, treatments, and health promotion.
- Participate in quality safety oversight, process improvements, and staff meetings to ensure compliance with accrediting standards.
What you'll need to have:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any US State or territory.
- Completion of an accredited residency training program.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Hematology and Oncology.
- US Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are not available).
