Description
The Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System is looking for a full-time Gastroenterologist to join their team at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. You'll provide comprehensive GI care to veterans, from outpatient clinic visits to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. This role combines hands-on clinical work with teaching opportunities, as you'll oversee residents, fellows, and medical students. The position also qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program, which could pay up to $200,000 toward your student loans. If you have experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Esophageal Manometry, that's a plus. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Provide diagnostic assessments, medical evaluations, and management for GI patients in both outpatient clinics and inpatient settings
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures including upper and lower endoscopies, polypectomies, variceal banding, PEG placements, and esophageal dilations
- Review gastroenterology consults and staff cases with fellows, residents, and APPs
- Administer and manage moderate/conscious sedation during procedures
- Share call coverage and inpatient consult service with other attending physicians
- Participate in section and service meetings, quality assurance programs, and chart reviews
- Complete all medical record documentation within guidelines, including e-consults, encounters, and proper coding
- Supervise and teach residents, fellows, and medical students in gastroenterology
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved institution
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory
- Completed residency training approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent, with fellowship training in Gastroenterology
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination and background investigation
- Preferred: Experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and/or Esophageal Manometry
Job Details
Location: Little Rock, AR (occasional travel to surrounding CBOC facilities may be required)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Salary Range
$340,000 - $390,000 per year
Base Pay + Market Pay determined through formal pay-setting process
