Description
The Cardiology Section at VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking cardiologists for fee basis positions at the West Roxbury campus. This is a flexible, intermittent opportunity where you'll participate in general cardiology inpatient and outpatient services while teaching residents, Nurse Practitioners, and cardiovascular disease fellows. VABHS is a multi-campus tertiary care medical center with major affiliations to Harvard Medical School and Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. With one of the largest research programs in the VA, including the nationally recognized Million Veteran Program, you'll have significant collaborative opportunities. This role is ideal for academic cardiologists looking to supplement their practice while serving Veterans in a world-class medical environment.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Staff one of three inpatient consult services, assessing inpatient and outpatient cardiology consults or accepting admissions for a variety of cardiovascular conditions.
- Provide attending coverage for the general cardiology inpatient and outpatient services at the West Roxbury campus.
- Manage and teach residents, Nurse Practitioners, and cardiovascular disease fellows in inpatient settings.
- Deliver high-quality cardiovascular care to Veterans while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to the academic mission with accomplishments commensurate with appointment as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor of Medicine.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA, with eligibility for board certification.
- Board certification or eligibility in cardiovascular diseases, or equivalent training.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Job Details
Location: West Roxbury Campus, Boston, Massachusetts
Schedule: Intermittent/Fee Basis, Monday through Friday (no weekend or evening coverage)
Appointment Type: Temporary (through 12/31/2025, may be extended year-to-year)
Fee Basis Compensation
$1,440 per shift
Aggregate annual limit of $400,000 across all VA appointments
