The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is searching for a physician leader to serve as Chief of Staff. This is a senior executive position where you'll be part of the quadrad leadership team, shaping clinical care, professional education, and medical research across the facility. You won't just manage; you'll drive the vision. The role combines hands-on clinical decision-making with strategic organizational planning to achieve the medical center's mission. Here's what you'll be doing:

• Advising the Medical Center Director on all matters related to direct patient care delivery
• Providing supervisory line authority for all clinical services, including recruitment, retention, and operations management
• Ensuring medical staff practitioners are credentialed and privileged per VA and Joint Commission requirements
• Monitoring staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations
• Promoting healthcare professional development through counseling, mentoring, teaching, and encouraging self-assessment
• Participating in organizational planning and championing new treatment programs and technologies

What you'll need to have:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
• Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA leading to board certification eligibility
• Board certification (preferred specialties include Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry; Dentists and Podiatrists also considered)
• Proven administrative and clinical leadership experience with effective management skills
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
