Description
Ready to lead a radiology department while still keeping your clinical skills sharp? The Cheyenne VA Health Care System is looking for an experienced diagnostic radiologist to serve as Chief of Radiology. This is a hybrid role where you'll split your time between administrative leadership and direct patient care, covering both Cheyenne, Wyoming and Northern Colorado. You'll build a culture of safety, mentor staff, and make a real difference for the Veterans who depend on this facility. The VA is offering a sign-on bonus and up to $200,000 in student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program to sweeten the deal.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Lead the Radiology Service by fostering open communication, mutual respect, and a strong culture of patient safety.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise radiology staff while managing credentialing, peer review, and regulatory compliance.
- Address patient complaints, respond to inquiries from Congress and VA Central Office, and participate in quality improvement committees.
- Provide direct patient care approximately 50% of the time, including protocolling complex imaging exams and delivering timely, accurate reports.
- Evaluate and prioritize radiology orders, order lab studies, approve hydration for CT exams, and notify providers of critical imaging results.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training in radiology approved by ACGME or AOA, with eligibility for board certification.
- Strong clinical radiology experience with a solid understanding of subspecialty functions; prior VA administrative experience preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and a valid driver's license.
