The Beckley VA Medical Center is searching for a board-certified radiologist to step into the Chief of Radiology role. You'll lead one of the facility's largest clinical departments, overseeing specialty sections including Interventional Radiology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, MRI, and PACS. This position blends clinical excellence with leadership, so you'll interpret complex imaging studies while also guiding your team, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving quality improvement. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Interpret imaging exams across multiple modalities, correlate findings with clinical information, and generate comprehensive reports with differential diagnoses and recommendations.
- Prescribe and modify exam protocols based on clinical indications, review requests for appropriateness using ACR Appropriateness Criteria, and oversee technical image quality.
- Provide clinical oversight of medication administration, including contrast agents and preps, while serving as a resource for infection control practices.
- Lead and mentor medical staff, develop clinical policies, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and radiation exposure standards.
- Participate in MRI safety, Radiology Quality Assurance committees, and communicate critical results to providers promptly.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed radiology residency approved by ACGME or AOA, with board certification required.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Skills in reading virtual colonoscopies and cardiac angiographies, or willingness to learn.
Job Details
Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (on-call as needed)
Annual Salary Range
$350,000 - $400,000
Plus annual performance bonus
