Description
The Manchester VA Medical Center in New Hampshire is seeking a board-certified Pathologist to lead their Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service as Service Line Chief. This is a leadership role where you'll oversee both the clinical and administrative operations of the department, supervising staff, driving quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring Veterans receive the highest standard of diagnostic care. You'll also provide consultative pathologic services and collaborate with the White River Junction VA Medical Center. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Directly or indirectly supervising all staff within Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, including completing performance appraisals
- Chairing the Tissue and Transfusion Quality Review Committee and organizing quality assessment and improvement initiatives
- Participating in Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) processes for physicians
- Ensuring timely and accurate pathology tissue reporting in compliance with VA directives
- Providing consultative pathologic services consistent with the ambulatory status of the facility
- Maintaining privileges at White River Junction VAMC and providing cross-coverage as needed per the established MOU
- Participating in VISN1 Pathology Group activities and reporting critical incidents to the VISN Chief Pathology Consultant
- Engaging in academic activities, presentations, and training of pathology residents, medical students, and staff
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from an approved school
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or territory
- Completed residency training in Pathology approved by ACGME or AOA
- Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (required)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening
Job Details
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (No on-call requirement)
Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required
Supervisory: Yes, this is a leadership position
Salary Range
$200,000 - $400,000 per year
Final salary determined by education and length of practice
