Hampton VA Medical Center is looking for a board-certified Cardiologist to join its team and provide expert cardiovascular care to our nation's Veterans. You'll deliver consultative services across inpatient, outpatient, Community Living Center, and emergency department settings. This role combines hands-on patient care with teaching opportunities, as you'll supervise residents, fellows, and medical students on cardiology rotations. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Provide direct patient care in both inpatient and ambulatory clinic settings, delivering the full range of therapeutic interventions within your subspecialty.
- Screen and resolve consultations from other disciplines promptly, performing diagnostic assessments and medication evaluations.
- Order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and make appropriate treatment decisions for Veterans with cardiovascular conditions.
- Supervise and teach residents, fellows, medical students, and NP/PA students assigned to cardiology rotations.
- Provide weekend and holiday coverage of the cardiology consultation service and medical inpatient service on a rotating basis.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives across the department.
What you'll need to have:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens cannot be recruited).
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Completed residency training approved by ACGME or AOA, with eligibility for board certification.
- Board certification from ABIM in cardiovascular disease, with subspecialty certification in one or more of the following: advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, interventional cardiology, or clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Job Details
Location: Hampton, Virginia
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (rotating weekend/holiday coverage)
Annual Salary Range
$300,000 - $400,000
