Description

The Michener Institute of Education at UHN is seeking a Simulation Technologist to support hands-on, experiential learning across our healthcare programs. Reporting to the Centre for the Enrichment of Teaching and Learning (CETL), you will play a key role in preparing simulation spaces, operating and maintaining advanced equipment, and ensuring simulation sessions run smoothly. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy professional with experience in healthcare simulation who enjoys problem-solving and supporting learners in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of simulation equipment, including high- and low-fidelity mannequins, task trainers, and AV systems.
  • Assist instructors and participants with technical operations during simulation sessions to ensure a seamless learning experience.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and updates of simulation equipment and track inventory using institutional digital systems.
  • Coordinate with IT, AV, and Facilities teams to ensure simulation technologies are properly integrated and supported.
  • Provide basic training and technical orientation on simulation equipment to faculty, staff, and student assistants.
  • Support standardized patient sessions by preparing spaces, materials, and logistics.
  • Uphold safety protocols, infection prevention practices, and operational standards within all simulation spaces.

Qualifications

  • Education in a health-related or technical field (e.g., medical lab science, nursing, respiratory therapy, paramedicine). A diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience is required.
  • 1–3 years of experience supporting simulation-based education, skills labs, or clinical training environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation equipment and platforms (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE), including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification is an asset, or willingness to pursue it.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

Location: 222 St Patrick St, Toronto, ON M5T 1V4, Canada

Schedule: Permanent Full-time, Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite per week)

Salary: $63,809.66 - $79,762.07 per annum
