Plaster Technician – Outpatient Department (University Hospital Sharjah, UAE)

🏥 Position Summary:

• Provide patient care services in the orthopedic outpatient setting.
• Support orthopedic and nursing teams with plaster casting and related tasks.
• Maintain hygiene and infection control practices in the plaster room.
• Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement and international accreditation processes.

⚕️ Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with orthopedic plaster procedures including applying and removing plaster casts.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control in the plaster room.
• Observe and report patient conditions and concerns to the supervising nurse.
• Escort patients within the hospital and chaperone during procedures if necessary.
• Support multidisciplinary teams and patient advocacy efforts.
• Prepare clinical areas and support stock management.
• Operate and maintain basic diagnostic and support equipment; report malfunctions promptly.
• Participate in emergency procedures and safety measures.
• Assist in health education for patients and families, within defined protocols.
• Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Attend mandatory training sessions and uphold high clinical practice standards.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and unit operations.
• Any additional duties as assigned within scope of practice.

📋 Position Requirements / Qualifications:

✅ Required:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Plaster Technician or in a nursing-related orthopedic setting.
• Proficient in English (verbal and written).
• Valid UAE MOH license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate (required within 3 months of hiring).

🎯 Desirable:

• Plaster Technician Certificate.
• Diploma in Nursing (preferred but not mandatory).
• Previous UAE work experience and/or experience in JCI-accredited hospitals.
• Understanding of basic patient care in OPD environments.
