Description
Davidson Management Consultants have been mandated to recruit a western trained Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for their client in Dubai which owns and operates a chain of mental health facilities across UAE. We are looking for experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists with experience in Psychotherapy. Your primary role is to use your skills and medical expertise to achieve the highest quality of care for young people experiencing mental health problems in partnership with their families or carers.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Treatment:
• Medical assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders
• Psychiatric assessment and treatment of patients under care, lead and delegate to clinicians
• Provide range of psychiatric and mental health treatments using psychopharmacology as appropriate
• Apply integrated biopsychosocial model in understanding, diagnosing and managing mental illness
Comprehensive Care Approach:
• Consider normal and abnormal development across life span, family functioning, systemic assessment
• Address physical health, comorbidity, neurobiology, pharmacology, emotional health
• Consider geographic location, social adversity, school factors, psychiatric disorders and substance use disorder
• Provide person-centered and family-focused mental health care that is developmentally informed
Information Synthesis & Clinical Decision Making:
• Seek and synthesize information from multiple sources including interviews, observations, laboratory tests
• Conduct structured mental health assessments and neuropsychological assessments
• Gather information from family, education professionals, and other supporting individuals
Evidence-Based Treatment:
• Deliver evidence-informed treatment tailored to social and personal needs of young person and family
• Recognize cultural contexts impact on assessment, management, and recovery
• Recommend comprehensive interventions including medication and psychotherapeutic treatments
• Enable appropriate social interventions in schools and communities
Collaboration & Consultation:
• Liaise and provide medical psychiatric opinions to consultant paediatric colleagues
• Participate in meetings with other specialties for psychiatric and mental health disorders
• Provide consultative role to teachers, educators, residential workers, child protection, and courts
• Liaise with consultant child and adolescent psychiatry colleagues
Professional Development & Governance:
• Provide evidence-based teaching and supervision to junior doctors
• Supervise nursing and allied health professionals
• Promote and be involved with clinical governance within department of psychiatry
Specialized Functions:
• Manage interface of mental and physical health including treatment risks
• Promote shared decision making with young people and families
• Manage capacity and competency to consent issues
• Facilitate transition to adult mental health care and from perinatal services
• Identify and integrate parental mental health concerns with young person's care
Requirements
• Western trained
• Experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
• Experience in Psychotherapy
• Expertise in both adult and child mental health
• Ability to work with young people, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Compensation
Salary: AED 70,000 per month plus family benefits
