Sutter Amador Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and formally trained Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) to join our perioperative team. In this advanced role, you will render direct patient care by directly assisting the surgeon in the surgical treatment of the patient. This position requires documented knowledge and skills acquired through specialized preparation and supervised practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as the first assistant to the surgeon during operative procedures, providing skilled support such as tissue handling, suturing, and ensuring hemostasis.
• Perform preoperative patient assessments and collaborate with the surgical team to develop a plan of care.
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to all aseptic techniques and safety protocols within the operating room.
• Collaborate with the entire perioperative team to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience.
• Participate in the required standby/on-call rotation with a 30-minute response time.
• Assist with postoperative patient management and ensure a smooth transition of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Completion of a formal Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) program is mandatory.
• Minimum of three (3) years of RN experience in the Operating Room, PACU, or Critical Care, encompassing both circulator and scrub roles.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of California.
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is required.
• Demonstrated clinical skills validated by an internship or physician mentorship.
