Sutter Lakeside Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II for our Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will be accountable for the complete perioperative nursing process, from patient assessment and education to the delivery and evaluation of care. This role is crucial for providing holistic, individualized care and ensuring a safe and smooth transition for surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop patient-centric care plans.
• Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to patients in the PACU, managing their recovery from anesthesia.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Monitor patient vital signs, assess their condition, and intervene as necessary to ensure a stable recovery.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to new staff members.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience, with at least six months of prior experience in PACU, ED, or ICU.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of California.
• Required Certifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• PALS certification may be required based on patient population.
• Strong skills in patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization in a perioperative setting.
