πŸ“ Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support for clients in their homes, including ADLs/IADLs.
  • Observe and report changes in client conditions to healthcare team members.
  • Engage and motivate clients to participate in their care and maintain independence.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on care planning.
  • Assist with home management tasks such as cleaning, preparing meals, and organizing the home environment.
  • Use safe body mechanics and operate mechanical lifts as needed.
  • Deliver services using a culturally safe and harm-reduction approach.
  • Accurately document and communicate using both paper and electronic systems.

πŸ“ Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program.
  • Current registration with the BC Community Health Worker and Care Aide Registry.
  • Experience working with clients with dementia, geriatric, or palliative needs is an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of client-centered care and promoting independence.
  • Ability to work in diverse and inclusive environments.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention and mechanical lift operation.
  • Literacy and competency in using electronic charting systems and mobile phones.
  • Skilled in verbal, written, and culturally safe communication.
  • Team collaboration and prioritization of tasks in home support settings.
  • Physical capability to meet job demands.
