Care Aide – Long-Term Care (Various Areas)

📍 Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered personal care such as hygiene support, bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, and assisting with meals.
• Respond promptly to call bells or alarms to ensure resident safety and address concerns.
• Observe and monitor residents for symptoms or behavioral changes and report significant findings to the nursing team.
• Assist in basic nursing care procedures as per care plan and organizational standards.
• Utilize mechanical aids (e.g., wheelchairs, specialty beds) to safely transfer, lift, and transport clients.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment supporting resident comfort and infection control.
• Support the interdisciplinary team with recreational, mobility, and wellness programs.
• Complete documentation within patient care information systems as required by health authority protocol.

📍 Qualifications

🎓 Education & Experience

• Completion of Grade 10—English 10 required.
• Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program, OR equivalent education and training.
• Eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

🧠 Knowledge & Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Respectful and effective interpersonal collaboration.
• Physically able to perform care aide tasks including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Able to organize and prioritize workload in a structured long-term care environment.
• Skilled in using patient care equipment and health records systems.
