Description
We are looking for a dedicated Pathologist to join our team at the Hampton VA Medical Center. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for a broad range of patient care activities within Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This is a comprehensive position that primarily involves anatomic pathology duties, including cytopathology and surgical pathology, along with oversight in all areas of the clinical lab. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Provide diagnostic expertise in anatomic pathology, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and autopsy pathology.
- Offer diagnostic oversight and clinical consultation for microbiology, immunology, molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry, blood bank, and hematology.
- Process and interpret intraoperative frozen sections and provide real-time consultation to surgical teams as requested.
- Participate in multidisciplinary conferences such as Tumor Board, teach residents and students, and engage in laboratory quality assurance measures.
- Provide 24/7 on-call services on a rotating basis with other pathologists to ensure continuous diagnostic support.
What you'll need to have:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Pathology.
- Board certification or eligibility in Cytopathology is required.
- A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or Territory.
- U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in English. Two or more years of experience in GU or GI pathology is preferred.
Job Details
Location:Hampton, VA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with rotating 24/7 on-call coverage.
Annual Salary:
$325,000 to $350,000 per year
