Description

Accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting, including direct patient care, family education, and transitions of care. Provides holistic and individualized care incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors. Builds collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams through effective communication. Adheres to policies, best practices, and regulations to foster optimal patient experiences within perinatal care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, age-specific perinatal patient care using the nursing process.
• Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Coordinate transitions of care while educating patients and families.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Ensure accurate documentation in alignment with hospital standards.
• Promote patient safety and adhere to hospital quality initiatives.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and providers.
• Stay current with evolving standards, equipment, and perinatal best practices.
• Participate in regular education, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN Licensure in the state of California (or state where care is provided).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification.
• Minimum 2 years of recent perinatal nursing and acute care experience.
• Strong knowledge of perinatal nursing theories, anatomy, physiology, and best practices.
• Proficiency with EMR documentation and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to handle sensitive clinical situations.
