Position Summary

The Nursing Manager, Interventional Psychiatry and Clinical Education at Sutter Center for Psychiatry provides operational and nursing leadership for the Interventional Psychiatry service and oversees clinical education programs. This role ensures safe, evidence-based care, optimizes workflows, and maintains high standards of quality and patient safety. The Nursing Manager develops protocols, manages budgets, and fosters partnerships to achieve departmental and organizational goals while resolving complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and nursing leadership for Interventional Psychiatry, ensuring safe, evidence-based care and optimized workflows.
  • Oversee clinical education programs, ensuring staff are well-trained and competent in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Plan and organize operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care.
  • Establish protocols and practices to comply with department, affiliate, and regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Develop and manage capital and operational budgets to achieve financial targets through effective resource utilization.
  • Identify best practices, standardize workflows, and implement changes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with internal and external peers, leaders, and agencies to facilitate collaboration and resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance and direct intervention to resolve challenging or complex situations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and accreditation standards, including handling of hazardous drugs per USP 800 guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license for California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Recent managerial experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting or procedural (PACU) area preferred.
  • Experience working with physicians or practice groups preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Prior experience in a union environment and ECT experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of operations, workflows, and their impact on other departments.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Strong clinical proficiency to plan and coordinate patient care per applicable standards.
  • Knowledge of healthcare financial environment and ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Ability to handle confidential issues and make sound business decisions with minimal direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
