American Hospital Dubai is seeking a caring and professional Staff Nurse for our Maternal Newborn Unit. You will provide direct, age-specific care for both mothers and their newborns, guiding families through the postpartum period. This role encompasses comprehensive nursing assessment, care coordination, and family education, all while upholding the highest standards of safety and care as required by the Joint Commission International (JCI).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive postnatal physical assessments for mothers and routine assessments for newborns.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate and prioritize care for both mother and baby.
• Implement and manage neonatal care, including phototherapy, radiant warmers, incubators, and resuscitation equipment.
• Administer medications and treatments, such as sucrose to neonates, as prescribed.
• Involve patients and families in the plan of care, providing education on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the medical record according to hospital standards.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to all JCIA, safety, and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (minimum 3-year full-time course duration).
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent post-graduate experience in Maternal Newborn Nursing (Postpartum/Nursery).
• Must hold a valid license/registration to practice in your home country and/or country of last employment.
• A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Strong skills in the assessment of both maternal and newborn physical and psychological needs.
• Ability to provide care based on the age, appropriateness, and developmental needs of patients.
