American Hospital Dubai is seeking a specialized Staff Nurse for our Diabetes Clinic. This role focuses on providing direct patient care and coordinating care-related activities for adult and geriatric populations. You will be a key player in managing patients with diabetes, performing essential diagnostic tests like Point-of-Care (POC) testing for HbA1C and Ketone levels, and contributing to real-time diagnostic information to guide patient treatment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specialized Point-of-Care (POC) testing for HbA1C and Ketone levels to provide immediate diagnostic information.
• Conduct age-specific patient assessments and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement care plans for diabetic patients.
• Involve patients and their families in the plan of care, providing education on diabetes management.
• Coordinate and prioritize patient care, recognizing subtle cues to anticipate potential problems.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record according to hospital and JCIA standards.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to all safety and infection control protocols.
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities and maintain professional competency in diabetes care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (minimum 3-year full-time course duration).
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent post-graduate experience in a Diabetic or Endocrine clinical setting.
• Must hold a valid license/registration to practice in your home country and/or country of last employment.
• A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is essential.
• Strong skills in the assessment of patient and family needs related to chronic disease management.
• Knowledge of and ability to render care specific to the needs of diabetic patients.
